Patti Taylor

Spurn

I am a London-based artist specialising in bookbinding, printmaking, and textiles. After retiring from a career in IT and teaching, I pursued my interest in art, studying textiles, printmaking and fine art at Citylit and the London Print Studio.

Artists’ books combine these interests, my work centring on intertwining narrative and form. Each work begins with an emotional spark—a memory,  poem, or  fleeting image—that I expand after extensive research. Often this involves visiting  key locations and making contact with both academic and creative experts. I then clarify a final perspective and select appropriate book structures, printmaking and textile techniques.

Three of my artist’s books have been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, with two – Mind the Gap and Liminal 2 – being selected.

I’m a member of textiles2020, Prism, Phoenix, Printmakers Council and now London Artists Books.
